My name is Brianna McCollum, and I am excited to be one of the newest members of the Griswold Community School District. I am originally from Woodward, Iowa, and I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa for Secondary English Education. I began my teaching career up north in Cherokee, where I taught 7th and 8th grade Reading Skills, 10th grade English, and 12th grade College Composition for two years. At the end of those two years, my Husband joined the Army. As there are no active duty bases in the state of Iowa, I elected to resign my position and travel with my spouse wherever the Army would send him. Little did we know at the time, we would be sent to Germany and Japan over the next 4 years. The experiences and lessons I learned overseas give me a unique perspective for teaching informed global citizens. No matter where in the world I am, I enjoy reading, playing games (card, board, computer/console, and tabletop rpg), crafting stained glass or jewelry, singing and dancing with my daughter, and having great conversations with friends both old and new. My passion and enthusiasm for teaching and learning is something that I hope to share, and I look forward to sharing in your student’s educational journey and growth.
